Customer Reviews:
1 out of 5 stars Works fine--until the zipper breaks, and it becomes useless.   March 18, 2010
Jonathan Lam (Vancouver, WA)
As a Kindle case, it functions relatively close to expectations. You get what you pay for, which is something that holds your Kindle. Theoretically, it would be a serviceable case; however, the zipper is extremely shoddy. For whatever reason it gets stuck every half inch or so, to the point that the case has literally become unusable. The case has become a glorified, crappy slipcase into which I slide my Kindle, because I can't zip it up all the way (and don't want to, out of fear I'd never get my Kindle out again), and I can't unzip it to open it all the way. I'd recommend steering clear unless you enjoy fights with zippers that you have no hope of winning or relish the threat of never being able to remove your Kindle from its case ever again.

5 out of 5 stars Padded, holds Kindle DX, what else could I want?   March 16, 2010
R. Morris (Iowa, USA)
This case is exactly what I was looking for: it's padded and provides some protection for the Kindle DX, and it holds the Kindle for both travel and reading. Some people have complained that the four elastic straps in the corners, which are designed to hold the Kindle in, do not do their job, but I have had no problems with my Kindle falling out during reading--just fold the front flap behind the back, and hold the entire thing as you read. Additionally, I've had this case for several months and have had no problem with the zipper snagging or breaking.

There is an inside pocket, but I'm afraid to use it for fear or damaging the screen or scratching the back, but I'm sure it will be fine if you only put papers in there and not, for example, the USB cord or charger. (Maybe you can; I just don't want to try because I've had bad experiences with the screen, though not with this case.) There is also a small fabric loop on the outside and a band of fabric on both sides of the case near the folding part that might be designed to carry or hook the case on to something; again, I do not use these.

I use this case to protect my Kindle both when traveling as well as during normal use around home. I believe it works well, and the price is certainly hard to beat. I recommend this product.

1 out of 5 stars It will not fit   March 2, 2010
e-reader
The case is a good concept. I was hopeful that it would meet my needs. The case is small and has a handle for easy carrying, it also has a place for a notepad on the left side, great for me because I'm left handed. However my DX will not fit into the case. The case is a hair too short. I'll not risk breaking my DX by trying to force into the case. I was really hopeful to have a case that would enclose my DX and provide me a easy way to carry with me but his case was not the answer. Additionally, you'll have to take the KDX out of the case to allow it to charge.

It's important to me to protect my DX. I have tried a number of combinations to achieve my goal. It's been costly but so was my investment in the Kindle DX. To date I have found that the best way to protect my Kindle is to put it in a silicone rubber skin case. The skin case protects the front back and sides of my KDX and does not interfere with the button functions. Although I wish the silicone over the page turning buttons was a little more transparent. I then put my KDX into a M-Edge leather jacket. This combination of protection makes me feel most secure that I'm protecting my KDX. I have no problem with the silicone skin coverd KDX fitting into the leather jacket. I also have a reading light and notebook on the left hand side and it still closes just fine.

I went online and found a website that makes skins for all types of devices to include the Kindle DX. These skins peel off and adhere to the front and back of the KDX. I found a couple of skins I really liked (they were just pretty) and purchased them. While the skins personalize the DX and give it character, they do not protect the device as well as the silicone skin cover. The peel off skins will not protect the edges of the device. However the case does make up for this.

I like the look of the peel off skins on my device but feel most comfortable about its protection when I put the silicone skin over and place it into the leather jacket cover. So I choose protection over pretty. Now if the M-Edge leather jacket only had a handle, I'd be good to go.

1 out of 5 stars zipper broke within a month   February 25, 2010

the zipper stuck & broke within a month. cheap construction. otherwise it looks fine, is lightweight & easy to use.

5 out of 5 stars Really Nice Cover for the Price   February 18, 2010
A. Gangar (Denver, USA)
Most covers for Kindle DX are selling in the range of $25 to $50. I bought this cover for $9 or so and $3 in shipping. The cover construction quality is really good and it protects the Kindle DX well against scratches etc.

Highly recommend this product to any DX user.
